Quality you can trust

Parents will send every collected cord blood unit to the CariCord Laboratory, which has been approved by the FDA to manufacture cord blood as a pharmaceutical drug. Currently, there are only five such FDA licensed facilities in the world. Once the units are received at the laboratory, they will be processed in a Class 10,000 clean room, using the same laboratory procedures, equipment, supplies and handling, by the same highly trained lab technicians that handle the licensed public cord blood banked units. Private units are not licensed, because they are designated for autologous use (although they may be used for a close family member, if they are a sufficient match). The fact that the laboratory has such stellar accreditations speaks volumes to a parent's single-most important aspect of this type of product, QUALITY.

Parents can be confident that CariCord not only has the expertise to process and store these valuable cells, but also that the lab has provided cells for patients around the world and the Medical Center has extensive transplant experience using them.
